A speaker that stated 50 w rms DOES NOT need a amp even close to that power. A 50w amp is not a 50w amp & any amp will distort at high volumes no matter how powerfull the speakers state they are. a 4 watt deck will power a 300 w component set, it's just it won't be loud!
I don't have a clue how they test speakers & I feel power ratings are completely pointless on speakers. A well built speaker can take a lot more power then the ratings state IF the power is CLEAN. I feel a more important # is the effeciency of the speaker. Every 3 db +/- means the speaker will sound twice as loud with the same power. So say I have a stereo which produces music at 100 db with 100 watts of power, to go to 103 db, 200w would be required & so on.
Anyways
Soon to buy an eclipse deck with 16v balanced outputs, dead head, copper chassis, hand built, etc. It will aslo accept either XM sat or Sirus :o)
Keeping the stereo as simple as possible is the best way to get max SQ! With the new Eclipse deck & will be able to eliminate the GFI-4600's (convert RCA's to Balanced DIN).
O yea, Jordan, are you interested in buying a CHA-S624 6 disc changer? It's probably 1 1/2 yrs old with 6 months of use! I had a CDA-7850 which I sold a while back & thus I have no use for the changer!
