Well, passing the burn-off test doesn't necessarily mean that the AMM is good, it just tells you that the hotwire is good and that the ECU is sending the voltage to perform the burn-off function after the engine is shut down. The only real way to rule out the AMM is to swap it with a known good one.

I'm not sure which version of the LH system your car uses, I am only really familar with LH 2.2 and the 005 AMM. Although this AMM is notorious for going bad I've never run accross a bad one, but have suspected many of them.

AIC's have given me much more trouble, I quit replacing them long ago, unless I just happen to run accross a good used one, many Hyundai's use the same AIC as the LH 2.2 system. I used to ground them out, which closes the AIC bypass, at the connection by the power steering reservoir, but found they would just open up and stick somewhere else. Now I pull the hoses, insert plastic plugs, then reclamp the hoses and pull the AIC connector. It's easier to live with the AIC than it is to deal with a bad one.

Lori, gave good advice on cleaning the throttle body and AIC, if this is done regularly the AIC may last much longer and cleaning the TB will often help cold start and idle problems. If it is AIC though, cleaning may help, but what happens is that the contacts wear pits in the communtator, so the AIC won't operate smoothly and it hangs up.

If you do buy a new AIC, besure to adjust base idle properly, so that the AIC is spending most of it time in the middle of it's operating range and clean the TB and AIC every other oil change.
