Whoa dude, calm down some! Man, I don't know what in the world you were doing, but I pulled the alt and replaced it in a couple of hours in a hotel parking lot (management was very unhappy with me, hehe). And what in the world were you doing pulling an alt, and NOT replaceing the belts at the same time? Unless the things are only a couple months old, you should always replace the belts when you pull them off, cheap insurance against failure (and I'd be willing to bet all you needed was a new set of belts). Check them when you buy them, make sure you get a matching set, don't just check numbers, physically check them to make sure they're the same diameter.
