1989 900 turbo convertible
I have recently replaced all 3 switches on the A/C temp & vent controller, I did everything very carefully so as not to distrub something and obviously I disturbed something because I am now blowing the 30 AMP fuse under the hood in the fuse box.
Prior to all this I was having a problem with the center vents operating during acceleration and the hissing under the dash.
I thought the problem was in the switch because the hissing was right in that area, I checked the servo right in that area and it seemed to open and close, its not staying in the position I would like it to based on the settings and that "servo" could very well the problem but I can't seem to put my hand on the hissing so I am not convinced I have located the problem.
Prior to this I was having a problem with switch that adjusts the a/c and heat vents from center, side to top. I noticed as I opened things up and began to check things I would get some smoke "from the high setting" from the top leads of the vent controller switch when I powered things up, the connection right in front of you. I could jiggle the wires and the smoke would stop, obviously something in this run is not right.
When I got the switchs in - it then started blowing switches.
Is there anybody out there that has encountered this type of problem and can you forward advice.

- hissing in dash sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the hoses (n/m), Bry M., Mon, 16 Jul 2001 11:17:31
