SAAB Cooling Saga (longish)

Performed the full cooling system service replacing water pump, heater valve, fan thermoswitch, thermostat, and all hoses. Used the proper thermostat for my '83 Turbo, and the Wahler fan thermoswitch originally meant for VWs (opens at 82c).
Flushed everything by sticking a hose in every orifice and letting the water run as long as possible. Refilled using distilled water and Peak Dexcool substitute antifreeze (phosphate, silicate, and borate free. Doesn't taste as good as the real thing but what the hell.) You east coasters can get away with tap water but distilled doesn't hurt
The result is a car with an absolute rock solid temp gauge the goes to the middle and stays there. No drifting upward while in traffic. No pegging the gauge after getting off the highway after a hot run.
Since I finished the car, the weather has only been in the eighties. Can't wait to test this puppy out with a summer run to Palm Springs where the temp is a buck twenty by 10:00AM.
Follow the procedures on the SAABTECH site and your car will run like this as well. Do the whole cooling system at once or you'll drain and refill that system five or six times replacing components as they all fail singly. And they WILL. My water pump was going, the heater valve was crumbling, the thermostat was incorrect, and there were three weeping hose leaks.
Todd '83 900T: Haven't got your info yet. The job went long and I'll find what you're looking for as soon as I can.
Next: OIL LEAKS.
