time head gasket job and crankshaft seal replacement.
I got the head off my 93 900 turbo with little trouble. All was well, but I wanted to replace the crankshaft seal and oil pump o-ring while the head was off. I read Bentley and Townsend site regarding crankshaft pulley removal several times. Since I don't have a helper, one of my options was to place socket on crankshaft bolt and crankover starter. DON'T DO THIS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN LOOSE!! I did it. My timing chain was loose and wrapped around the crankshaft sprocket. I got the chain free but soon realized that I had broken some teeth on the crankshaft sprocket. Now I needed to remove timing cover, replace chain, crankshaft sprocket, oil tube o-ring and while I am in there, the guides ($150 later). Thanks to your help I was able to do just that. Live and learn. I can't believe how stupid I was to not think of that, but at least it is now fixed.
