I did mine because they were leaking fluid. The insides had a small amount of buildup which I removed with a clean cloth rag and solvents (dont remember what I used). They work fine. But if there is any kind of scaring, I think you can forget it. I seem to remember putting them back together was a bit of a pain. I put them in a vice and had to use a small metal bar to put into the slot on the back of one of the pistons to ratate it back and forth to get it to fit into its hole. I think that's normal, due to the tight tolerence. Something about the order in which you put things back together also (I had to put them together and take apart several times). So, pay attention to the order you take them apart.
