Here's the past two years off the top of my head... Posted by IrieTom [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Everyone look at this list of problems I've had with my 86 900S, SJ Stern, Wed, 25 Jul 2001 04:13:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought an '86 SPG two years ago, and here's the work that has been done so far...
I replaced the hood and doors with undented ones. The entire interior (dashboard, carpets, seats, side panels, trunk floor and sides, package shelf, a-pillar trim, b-pillar trim, c-pillar trim, jesus handles, and headliner). Brake rotors, calipers, and pads. Tires (twice). The steering rack and pump. The clutch slave cylinder, throwout bearing, pressure plate, and hydraulic line. Shocks, springs, and all suspension bushings. 1 inner driver, 1 cv joint. All ball joints, tie rod ends, belts, hoses, vacuum lines, and filters. The radiator, thermostat, heater core and valve, all engine seals, timing chain tensioner, harmonic balancer, distributor and cap, spark plug wires, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and head gasket. The transmission has been completely rebuilt.
The exhaust has been replaced cat-back with a performance exhaust system. The stock air intake has been replaced with an open-element filter. The APC box has been replaced with an SPG9 unit. All fluids have been replaced with synthetics.
I'm sure there's other stuff I can't think of offhand (oh, yeah- the gearshift lever "ball", boot, and knob, electric window switches, power antenna, stereo system...)
The result is a car that runs like it's brand new. I expected this when I bought a 13-year-old car with 160,000 miles. The car is now 15, and has 196,000. It has never broken down and left me stranded. I still need to fix the emergency brake (cables are shot), air conditioning, and get some minor body work done. By the time those are fixed, there will be something else (I've got the same turn signal lever problem) to be fixed or upgraded.
My car is my main mode of transportation, and also one of my hobbies.
So what was your question???
