You are right...buying a car with the intention of making money on it is a risky proposition. Being a gearhead, spending money on my cars is a form of investment for me...I am investing in my happiness. In Ian's case, he happens to have a Saab that many people desire, and will likely desire in the future. In other words, it is one of the few Saabs that you can put money into and possibly get it (or a good amount of it) back out. Of course, he may have 20 grand in it already!!
The other good thing about his SPG is its potential for improved performance, etc. He has a great car to dump big stacks of cash into...I also just don't think he would be satisfied with the G60 Corrado after having an SPG. I have driven both. I'll take the SPG anyday.
