The exact problem you are describing happens to me all the time.Stop and go traffic in the heat and both brake lites come on. Just like you said, I would get 10 or 15 more stops then the brakes would act really weird, going from no pressure to grabbing really suddenly. The pedal is just really mushy. The brakes still work but not very well.I had my shop check it out once, told them to check the connectors to the ABS pump and they looked at me like I was an alien. They charged me for a hour of labor and said everything was fine.I upgraded to new rotors, pads, stainless lines and super blue fluid hoping it would help but it still happened. But now I never actually lose the brakes. The feel of the pedal stays the same, the idiot lites just come on. So what you are saying is the abs pump just gets too hot and shuts off and eventually the pressure in the whole system gets screwed up? And there is no way to cool this part with different fluid or parts right? Would a brand new ABS pump make any difference? This is on my 90 SPG by the way.Any things I can specifically tell my shop to check out? The last time this happened I was driving out of town on a hot Fri afternoon in stop and go traffic and the lites came on pretty quickly and stayed on the whole trip(another 2 hours) but I never lost the brake modulation, i.e. the pedal never got mushy and the pressure was never goofed up. The one thing I've done in this car is have the brake fluid changed regularly, at least every year to try to avoid the dreaded master cylinder problems but this shows up anyway. So right now the system is full after being serviced and I haven't had the problem lately but I'm sure it will happen some time soon. Does the dot 5 ATE Super Blue fluid do anything beneficial in a Saab system Ari or is it just a waste since the ABS pump doesn't care what sort of fluid is in there? Thanks for any info Ari.
