ABS Sensor clearance washer

I just replaced the wheel bearing and front axle on my 90 900S w/ABS. While removing and replacing the hub, I had to remove the ABS sensor. I must confess I didn’t follow the manuals procedure…which called for a 0.65 mm thick fiber washer which is used to set the clearance. I reasoned that removing and replacing the sensor should maintain the clearance.

Well, problems have resulted. I believe it is caused by excessive clearance on the sensor. The symptom I am seeing is the ABS system starts to pulse the brakes when I am braking to a stop during light braking. It is fine above 15 MPH, but as I slow it starts to pulse the brakes at about 3-4 MPH. The problem does not occur when the car has stopped.

I’ve gone to the dealer to try to procure the fiber washer to set the clearance, and they are having a tough time coming up with the part. One guy thought I would have to buy the sensor or sleeve to get the washer. I told him that buying the sensor doesn’t make any sense because, according to the manual, this washer is required whenever you remove the ABS sensor (like a wheel bearing replacement).

So, anybody know how to get the fiber washer to set the clearance for the ABS sensor, or other comments on my problem?
