Ive done this on my parts car. When you are draining the tank, I think using a siphon might not work too well because the tank has baffles in it.
What I did was unbolt the fuel line from the fuel rail in the engine compartment (i actually had the engine out so it was already unbolted) and stick a gas tank (like for the lawnmower) and hooked up a car battery to the fuel pump and it pumped itself dry. I wasnt putting my car back together, so you may want to be more cautious ;)
