First read of this.. yes, especially with 135K on her. But then again; are the fans working?
Some things to try- a flush and it's very DIY. Problem with a flush- it usually flushes out what is holding your radiator (or other parts) together. For $12 it may be an interm solution; new fluid won't hurt either. Run your mix 60/40, water/glycol; water cools better (summer only). Watter-Wetter is an additive from Redline- cools the coolant. I tried- and it seemed to work, but my dash is not full of gauges either.
If the flush works- great, but if the radiator springs a leak (because of the flush)- you can DO IT! Don't buy refurb- a good after factory (NEW) is cheap. Very DIY and a bunch of posts on how to do it. Simple instructions; pull turbo intake hoses off, pull fan(s), disconnect rad-hoses (may want to get new hoses- check their condition), unbolt rad and pull up and out. Swap fan switch too.
Also- I would not worry so much about 3/4 into your guage- pretty normal under load. It's the 7/8 and red on the neddle that indicates a more serious problem. You rad and system is tired. Another thing to check- tension on water pump belt and the water pump (look for obvious leak just below pulley).
Good luck,
Steve
