I think you can safely ignore the 'O2 preheater' code if the problem occurs after the car has warmed up (at least 10 minutes of driving).
The O2 sensor needs to be at least 200 degrees C to work. Sitting in the hot exhaust gas stream does a pretty good job of this. But in order to help reduce emissions when the car is cold, the O2 sensor has an electrical heater in it. This warms it up quickly - in a minute or two. I'm sure the Engine Control is seeing a bad signal out of the O2 sensor, and since a bad heater would be one symptom, that code pops out. But you always have to mix codes with what you observe.
Did this problem also happen with the old O2 sensor, or is it only with the new one? If it occured with the old O2 sensor, I'd say you have a bad AMM. And, frankly, with a new O2 sensor, I'd still lean towards a bad AMM. The AMM and O2 sensor work together, so it's very hard for the engine control to determine which one is bad. If the AMM is reading wrong, it can lean out the mixture and make the O2 sensor look bad.
I'd say your next step is a new AMM. Call some of the mail order places that advertise on this BB. I've gotten an AMM there (Sobstory to be exact) for much less than the dealer, and it works just fine, thank you. Make sure you specify the year. It's important because there are two different AMM's out there, depending on year. They both look similar, and both fit - even the electrical connectors are the same. But they ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. So if you really want to be sure, copy down the Part number when you call around.
