I recently repainted my 82T at an old favorite - Earl Sheib. I got their premium job(ordinarily $500) at half the price. I had to repaint because it was looking so bad. I also didn't have the $ to do a top shelf painting, plus the car does't warrant that standard of job at this time. Still, I knew that my own prep work in advance in addition to the overall "sanding for adhesion" they do would make for the best possible job. I spent a full weekend removing stuff, sanding and filling in dings. I was pleased with the overall painting results, and yet the job wasn't done. Fine sanding between coats of paint is crucial (which they don't do), as well as a thorough buff and polish afterwards to give it the best mirror-like finish. I'm now spending time buffing and polishing out the finish, plus filling pits and pocks. The difference is dramatic.
