1985 models suffer from wiring harness degradation. The wire insulation installed that year was faulty, and '85 Saabs are known for electrical problems as a result. My '85 has a particularly bad case of it. The insulation crumbles away exposing the inner wire which then corrodes and eventually either fails or causes a short, blowing a fuse. It is possible and quite likely that parts of your harness have exposed/broken wiring. A visual inspection is the only way to know for sure. I would start at the brake lights and work towards the front of the car. The parts of the harness wrapped in thick black tubing seem to be the worst as moisture gets trapped inside the bundle and deteriotes the insulation. If you have a Bentley, look up the wiring codes and try some continuity tests. Good luck.
