I live in Boston, and we get good winters here--snow, sleet, freezing rain, salty sandy roads, too. I live on a very steep private way, and unfortunately, it is a low priority plowing area for the city. Many of my neighbors park a couple of blocks away during a storm, so they will have access to their cars. I never do, and I have never had a problem getting in and out--I had to borrow my dad's volvo wagon (a rear driver) last year while my car was in the body shop (from a delivery truck skidding down my hill and slamming my car) and the volvo was hopeless in the snow. Really makes me appreciate the Saab. It stays plenty warm, too.
The major drawback for me is washing the car. Because of all of the salt, you will need to wash it frequently in the winter, however, you have to hand wash a convertible, and that just plain sucks in 20 degree weather--now I know what arthritis will feel like. Visibility is slightly impaired also, although I do not think as badly as others have claimed--the car does have a glass rear window with defroster which works great.
Good luck!
