Sounds like it's wheel bearing time. The offending bearing can be deceptive as to which side. When they first start to go, the unloaded side can make the noise(in your case right), but when they are really shot, the loaded side can make the growl. If you put the front of the car up on stands, pull the wheels and run the car, you can use a screwdriver stethoscope against the spindle to hear the growl(be careful of moving parts!!!).

Now is a good time to do the bearing(s) and to buy the shop press you've always wanted. Some folks on the board have pounded out the old bearing and put in the new by freezing the new bearing overnight and "dropping" it into a spindle that has been heated in the oven. A machine shop will normally do it for $10 bucks a side.
