Hello fellow Ohioan. From Lorain, but your on your own. Posted by DougM [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: How do I separate Tailpipe from Muffler?, Randy Thatcher 90 SPG, Tue, 11 Sep 2001 00:01:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Does the taipipe slide over the outlet or does it go inside the outlet? If it goes over the outlet, then you can use a hammer and chisel or you can use a grinder. Grind on two opposite side of the pipe until through.
If the pipe fits into the muffler then you have more work to do. It might be cheaper and a lot less painful to pay an indie a few bucks to burn it off. While there at it they might as well put the new one on. They could do it in less than five minutes(I worked at Midas) and had an indie shop.
I wouldn't take it to an indie shop myself because I have a lage assortment of tools at my disposal(and I'm Cheap), but doing exhaust on my back is one of the most frustrating jobs I've done.
