Due to poor sales of the C900 there was a great deal of unused capacity at the SAAB factories. GM couldn't build enough Opels/Vauxhalls to satisfy the market. The obvious solution was to retool, bring SAAB into the fold with respect to mainstream design. GM owns all of SAAB passenger car production at this point. Lament the loss of the C900 as at this point there is no other car like it. Transverse engine, strut suspension is the dominant design on the market right now. The world will be homogeneous soon and auto enthusiasm will amount to how many CDs you can load and how effective the cup holders and Nav systems are!
