The C900 is a classic design, but it dates back to 1980. You may love the lines (as I do) but because of the design it was impossible to add many of the features that people expect now in a car. The car was pretty, but the inline engine mounting really impacts a lot of things, including improved suspension geometry.
But most of all, the C900 cost too much to produce. The car required a tremendous amount of hand labor, and that costs money. You don't just 'add on' produceablity - it has to be designed in. So the car cost a lot of money to build, and in the eyes of most consumers, it was dated styling. It's hard to increase the price of a car when fewer people are buying them, not unless it says 'Ferrari' on the side. So unless you're willing to shell out $40K for a 900, the NG900 and 9-3 are what's there.
