93 900S runs hot- any advice?

my 93 900 S is an automatic (yuck). nonetheless, my car had a front end low speed collision that was repaired about 2 years ago, and a new radiator was put in. just this past week, the passenger side cooling fan was replaced, and in the last 8 months both a new thermostat was installed and the cooling system was completely flushed. i notice that on this board, many people remark that a 900 should run at about 50% heat on the temp guage, even at highway speed, no AC on. but mine's more like 55-60%, and when i come OFF the highway, the temp rises to more like 75%. (this condition varies with temp. obviously in pennsylvania winters, it runs quite cool. but i go to school in virginia) is there a reason for this? does the auto tranny not have a good high gear that lets the car run efficiently at highway speed? should i be concerned about how hot my car runs? and is there anything i can do? thanks in advance.
