I was thinking if the front brakes locked before the rear this would cause the situation you described In retrospect however my original idea of mis-biased brakes does not apply to an abs car because all 4 wheels are controlled and in effect biased by the abs system. A sticking caliper that heated up and began to grab could have been at fault but this is pretty unlikely. I guess at this point I would check for oil in the transmission[5speed]or final drive[auto trans] to rule out the possibility that the trans locking up was not a catalyst here.
Also there is a common problem in the 900 where the exaust system overheats the wiring under the console between the seats causing the wires to short together or at worst to catch fire. If the rear ABS wires run through thia area and were to short it would tell the computer that the wheel on that corner was locked and would drop pressure to that wheel causing some real strange braking.
At some point the computer should catch this error in the system but maybe it all happened too fast.
