I have observed some slop in the shifting rod at the firewall. Where is the bushing and how do I replace it. This procedure not covered in my manual.
I also took out the shift handle like you said. I applied an ample amount of WD-40 to the front of the shifter housing where the shift rod comes in and freed up some binding as well. I can now shift into all gears except reverse. I did this by pushing down on the left side and forward/aft on the circular end of the shaft where the lever fits into.
My ignition key has been acting up a bit prior to this. Finally failed as I was doing all this and now my igntion switch rotates al the way around. How do I remove the ignition switch so I can take to a locksmith for repair or replacement. Can't drive the car now. Regards, Tom
