I think that Bosch had a bad run ... A friend of mine works in the parts department in a good dealership. He said a few things about the '89 900Ss that they got in. They had a lot of failures of the ECUs for the 900Ss - something to the effect that the on-board contacts for the fuel pump relay didn't hold up terribly well. They came up with a fix that used an auxiliary relay to operate the fuel pump.
Probably the Bosch problem was something like cold solder joints on the board. Something like the recent problems with Trionic boards in 9^5s. Bosch must have ammended their fabrication procedures to get the failure rate back down for the replacement '89 ECUs and subsequent ECUs.
There was a posting in the last few months to the effect that you can use the ECU from a later 900T or from a 9kT with LH 2.4 and use the same AMM. I don't have any direct experience to say whether the pinouts on the AMM are the same - intuitively, they should be. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for us.
