The car I want to upgrade is stock with a pile of miles on it. For an ordinary car it is a lot but for a Saab I'm not too worried. I used to drive a 91 9000CD Turbo and was quite happy with the performance. I would have liked a little more power, but you always want a little more power, you know. The 9000 has ~200 Hp and weighs 3300 lbs. and the 900 has ~160 and weighs 3000 lbs. How many upgrades would it take to deliver a little more performance than the 9000? I don't want to spend too much money under the hood as I still need to recover the front seats and replace the top. A new paint job would be nice too, but it can wait. I also want a somewhat complete upgrade but still leave the door open for future upgrades if I get the itch or permission from the wife to spend more money. What kind of gains would you expect from say an SPG9 APC (Stage I or II), injectors, pressure regulator and exhaust? Probably some of the less expensive things too like a K&N filter charger setup. I'd like to have the upgrades work together and not miss anything that could hinder the other upgrades, like huge injectors and not enough fuel pressure or something like that. And I'd rather not grenade the motor after 5,000 miles either. Thanks for the advice.
