Seat bottom- Posted by IrieTom [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: how do you get the seat bottom off. I need to re-sew it n/m, tim, Thu, 11 Oct 2001 17:46:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My memory's a little hazy, but as I recall- unbolt the seat back from the seat bottom (either hex or torx bolts), don't forget to unplug the seat heater wiring between the seat and backrest. I did this with the seat removed from the car- It's probably much harder in place.
There are little spring clips holding the upholstery to the frame along the rear edge. Pry them off. The sides are held in place by metal rods that fit into holes in the side of the seat base. Pull them out, and then unhook the upholstery fasteners from underneath the seat bottom.
Once you get started, you'll realize that it isn't very difficult. I think it took me about 2 hours to replace the upholstery on both the seat bottom and backrest the first time I tried. That includes removal and replacement from the car. The passenger seat took about 1 hour the next day (experience helps!)
