hmm...rattling noise

Okay, I've been chasing this for a week now. 88 SPG, BTW, with 2.3L head. Last weekend I noticed a slight rattle at lower RPM, seemed like valvetrain noise to me. During the week it got progressively worse, such that now it rattles at nearly all RPM, though I can't be sure about 4000 RPM+ on account of the open exhaust and all that.
On the weekend I cracked open the valve cover, inspected all of the lifters - none of them would press down (per the Bentley test) leading me to believe that the lifters are okay. Also per the Bentley, I bled the lubrication system in the head, as my head doesn't have the external oil rails to lubricate the cams.
So now I'm at a loss. The car has no AC, I did a search of "rattle" of prevoius posts, some people had the same symptom and it turned out to be the AC pulley. What about the other pulleys?
I also have good oil pressure, though it leaks a bit, nothing to worry about I don't think. Any other suggestions?
