Re original post I picked up a 83 900turbo which hadn't been running for 6 yrs. i got it started and it ran ok i TOOK IT FOR A SHORT ROAD TRIP AND SHE QUIT. PRIOR TO THE TRIP A LOT OF crap came out of the exhaust (rust etc) the car would idle (after a hard start) but would not take any throttle. i Had to let it sit last winter .this year,I thought maybe a plugged ex.sys. dropped the pipe in front of catalitic, after a hard start she fired right up ,would rev like a bugger, when warmed up it went into the no throttle mode, so i'm eliminating the plugged ex (unless its the front pipe ) when i first got the car i put some inj.cleaner in the tank I put too much, some of the rubber lines melted ? never heard of that before .i changed tanks (87) used the 87 fuel pump, which was good i totaled that one (not my fault ,Honest)i also changed the control press reg (87) And Fuel Dist. i Have checked out the ign.sys as best as Iknow (hayes Manual)
This is my first turbo ,I have some experience with cis (volvo Late 70s Early 80s)the last thing i did was check inj.spray (Warm) i didn't have any in two and a drip in two (with sensor plate full up)I am suspecting fuel sys . There are no dealers handy to me Moncton N.B. I can't find any test equip (i.e pressure guages,Inj cleaner) turbos had a fuel pump shut off at one time could this be it and if so where . I am not fam. with the apc sys. although what hayes has to say doesn't seem to be part of my prob
Try to make sense of this and let me know if anyone has any sugg. thanks a bunch.
