has been fun & frustrating - same time. I also have a 90S, and there are noteworthy differences between these.

The Turbo is more FUN! It pulls much harder, and 2nd/3rd gear will put a smile on your face.

The 87 brakes clunk a bit; this I understand is normal in the old Girling design. FWIW my 90 makes almost no such noises.

The 87 shifter feels better and shorter? Dont know if real or imagined but it seems to really click off the shifts, much better feel than the 90.

My car was NOT owned by a SAAB mechanic but a clueless airplane mechanics wife. When I got it, many small items were bad and I have dropped a good pile of $ into it, but doing my own work I believe it will deliver value.
My E-brake is not quite right, as one of my calipers malfunctions when the cable is pulled. This is I believe documented on the TOwnsend site, showing how to repair it.

Beyond that my 87T is pretty cool, still needing a headliner (you will too soon unless recently done) and probably a head gasket. With the mileage you mention better ask him if it has been done yet. This job appears not for the faint of heart, so better get a good check on this (3rd party neutral).
My car consumes antifreeze and continuously blows moisture clouds out the tailpipe, both supposed sure signs of headgasketitis. Just find out if this has been done yet and ask for the receipt.

Good luck!
