Any insights would be most appreciated.

I know that I have to replace both left ball joints and one right one, but I cannot see how that would be related--work is being done Monday. This morning, when I went to start the car, the clutch pedal had not tension--it went right to the floor with no effort at all, but it did come back up. The gear lever would not move out of reverse--I did not try to force it, but used a fair amount of effort. When I turned the key, the car lurched back (the clutch pedal was pressed, but reverse was still engaged). Any ideas??

One other thing: about two weeks ago, a fair amount of fluid was under the front of the car. It was hard to tell, but it looked lighter in color than my oil. I checked all fluids, and everything was OK. More fluid the next morning, so I took it to the mechanic. He checked all fluids, and said it was the seals near the oil pump. It did not leak any more fluid. Can that be related? What could it be?

Thanks for any help with this.
