Re: 16 valve engine identification....for Mark J...more info... Posted by Jon [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 16 valve engine identification....for Mark J., Jon ![]() ![]() |
Mark,
The number stamped into the engine on my 85 spg is:
B2022L13MF056804
"B" = gasoline engine
"20" = swept volume in DL (ie: 2.0 liter)
"2" = double cam (16 valve) "1" = single cam
"2" = Saab 900
"L" = fuel injection, turbo, intercooler, "S" = fuel injection, turbo, "I" = fuel injection
"1" = knock sensor, "0" = without knock sensor
"3" = emission control level (???)
"M" = manual transmission, "A" = automatic transmission
"F" = 1985 model year
"056804" = serial number
This information pertains to the 1984 and up engine numbers. From the SAAB 900 quick reference parts manual, 1979-1993 (including 1994 convertible)
Note that the tenth character of the engine and the VIN designates the model year.
I hope this is of some help.
good luck,
Jon
