Saab is uni-body design; no frame, per se. Can you just push the dent back out? I've smacked the bottom of an old 99 on dirt roads many times. Pull up the back seat bench, and inspect for more damage. I'm disinclined to think that a lateral force from, say, a broadside accident could push it up, but I could be wrong: inspect the door sill/frame area for signs of damage/repair work, paint overspray, etc.
Get a 2nd opinion: see if you can have another mechanic who doesn't work at the same shop do a "buyer's inspection". Do you know this mechanic's reputation w/Saab owners? If he's honest, he'll have no problem w/someone else checking it out. If he balks at your request, walk away from this car - others will turn up (check Saabnet classifieds...).
Ask the mechanic how much to replace the clutch and, after determining the body damage situation and deciding to buy, factor that into the cost. Clutch job should include: replacement of clutch disk, pressure plate, release bearing, slave cylinder, & clutch seal (Saab sells a kit for these parts, which can be purchased on the 'net for ~$160). Also have the pilot bearing and rear main engine seal (which is behind the flywheel) done, as he'll have access to them at that time. Brake fluid, which is "shared" with clutch system, should be flushed, too, unless done recently.
