I got the daytime running lights working on my 91 900s. The system consists of a fuse (Fuse 4, I think) and relay (Relay F). The relay is a normally closed config. If you pull out the relay, and have the headlight switch in the off position, jumper the sockets corresponding to pins 86 and 87a; the lights should come on. When you put the headlight switch in the on position, you should be able to measure 12V on pin 30 to ground (this activates the relay, turning off the DRL). I thought the DRL would be low power headlights, but *all* the lights come on, including tail lights, meaning that there seems to be no difference between DRL and just leaving the switch in the on position all the time. Anyways, if you measure the voltages and all is ok, then it might be the relay. Otherwise check the headlight switch and wiring.
