The really common problems are pushing the slave cylinder over the end of it's travel when installing the tool to hold the clutch. When you set up for the installation of the tool you have a partner push in the clutch and clamp the rubber section of the clutch hydralic line while your partner takes another stroke of the clutch pedal. Just do this enough to get the tool in or you will push the clutch slave off the end of it's travel and ruin the seal in the hydralic system. You can saw through the slave if you wreck it but it is a pain to do.
When you make the tool buy a 3/16" metal rod from the hardware store and saw off 18 1/2" bend the rod into a loop. You'll probably have to trim it a little before you install it but you want to be sure it reaches all the fingers of the clutch.
There are other that recommend wire etc for this but if the diameter is too small you will not get the clutch assy out of the car. Even with the factory tool it is a pretty tight fit, but if you wiggle it off the dowel pins of the flywheel you wil be able to get it out.
The plastic cover over the clutch is a bitch but it is unbreakable so you can pull on it to your hearts content. Try and remember how you pulled it out as you will probably have to do a reverse contortion to get it back in.
For what it's worth I don't do the seal behind the flywheel unless it is leaking and I don't remove the flywheel unless there is signs that it needs to be machined[Chattering when you roll from a stop,abnormal wear, cracks or hot spots]
All in all a good job for a do it yourself start.
