The parts prices for a DIY are reasonable. Perhaps you can find them for a bit less. As for the chore: removal of the hood is a must. The plastic cover comes off in a wierd way - pull up this way, rotate 45 degrees, pull, turn... The rest of the chore is fairly straight forward as it is described in the various manuals. If I were to be replacing the slave, I'd be tempted to saw through the old slave (thus removing the slave piston and release bearing), as that will make removal of the entire clutch (clutch plate, pressure plate, slave cylinder) system that much easier. Sawing aside, the unit comes apart as per directions. Reassembly was clumsy, but without notable trouble. The only thing that you will have to be especially mindful of is bleeding the entire system once reassembled. One tip: when you remove the clutch fluid line from the old slave, either plug the tip, or crimp the rubber section. Otherwise the entire master cylinder and fluid reservior will drain, thus making the bleeding that much more difficult.
