Ok. Take the passenger side, for example. Open hood. Stand on passenger side at wheel well. Look rearward of the white vacuum resevoir (the funny accordian like bottle), you see an empty cavity, right? Now look at the sheetmetal firewall (separates that cavity from cabin) that defines the most rearward "wall" of that cavity. It's a couple inches down from the top edge, you'll see a small bolt head (10mm is not very big, think 3/8" or so).
The drivers side is the same.
I realize it's not obvious at first, but it's there. Why, it's the *only* little bolt head in the area ;o)
As for the location of the heater valve, look in the engine compartment. See where those two radiator hoses poke through the firewall just medial (toward the middle) from the brake booster (looks like a shrunken LP gas tank). Well, on the interior side, those two hoses plug into the heater valve. A long connector arm connects the valve to the heater control swithc you turn on the dash.
Now go look, you'll see it.
