See if you can get some more control of the situation like this: Can you politely take just the cylinder to a machine shop and have it tested. The machine shop (one specializing in engine machining/rebuilding) can go over it and give you more info on the condition.
Some cars with Aluminum heads and iron blocks can get "pin holes" in the aluminum heads from electrolysis if the anti freeze is not maintained properly.
What is the condition of the block? Is the problem just with the head?
