Just leave a lot more space between you and the cars you're following. That's the single most important thing with any car. Other than that, I can only the Saab handles really well in any environment. Oh, and don't oversteer if you start sliding on black ice. Keep your steering wheel motions smooth and controlled.
The other's suggestions of practicing in a vacant lot may be a good idea if you've never tested your cars abilities. Make sure the place is cop-free.
