you use. The choices anymore are great. Personally, I've had alot of experience with PPG products. I painted my black 85 4dr with there DCC product line. The luxury of this system is you have an option of base coat/clearcoat or just a straight solid color with no clear. It's a very durable acrylic urethane paint. My choice was to forgo the clearcoated system and go with the solid color urethane. You don't have to worry about the added cost of the clearcoat. Paints anymore are very expensive, thanks to the EPA.

I used there DP epoxy primers as a base before any paint was put on the car. This is a must to seal the old finish. The last thing you want is some anomaly from the old finish coming through to the new finish. Seal it.

The job required 1 qt of epoxy primer, plus the reducer, and activator I believe. Also 3 qts of color was bought, 1 gal of reducer, and 1 qt of hardener. Five years ago this cost in the neighborhood of $400 just for these materials. I wouldn't be surprised if the same materials cost over $600.

Another superb product is their DBU basecoat/clearcoat system. I used this product quite a bit and it's gloss is very impressive and long lasting. Check out PPG on the web.

To think a couple of months ago people on this board were telling me there ain't no way a good paint job cost over $2k. Now you're saying a quart of paint cost over $600. Amazing(damn EPA). DuPont has some pictures of some ChromaLusion paint jobs on their website. Check 'em out. Pretty impressive.
