87 Saab Timing chain

OK, I picked up a 900 with 210k miles. Mainly because last summer the air conditioning came in real handy and it can always become a parts car for my other saab. The known problem at the time was a clicking almost as if it sounds like a diesel. I knew it had limited life left - a couple of weeks ago the car just stopped and I confirmed that the timing chain broke. I read that the only way to replace this is to remove the engine. Is this correct? If so, this will be the first time I took out an engine (brave because I've got nothing to lose and it should be a great experience). Can anyone offer suggestions or hints on how to make this go smoothly? I've got a great Saab manual for this so I am fairly confident that I can do it with just this, but I thought I'd post a message here because everyone is so knowledgeable and very helpful!
Thanks in advance for any tips.
/Brian
