If you replace the steering wheel with one from a non SRS car, that would be fine. If you pull the power connector to the SRS ECU (behind dash on Driver's side) I would also pull the connector to the wheel (bag) just to be safe. You could still use the OE steering wheel, it would no longer be able to operate. I think that the SRS light would not blink if you pull power to the unit, but if it does, just remove the bulb. My wife is 5' 3" and I have trained her to sit a reasonable distance away from the wheel. She felt like she had to be on top of it to control the car. Sha has adapted her seating position to sitting about as far away as I do. She has the same length legs as I do, though I am 4" taller and have longer arms. It is also important to hold the wheel differently in an SRS car. No longer 10 and 2, but 4 and 7 from what I hear. That way when the bag goes off, your hands don't get blown into your face. We can thank the government for providing this SRS for us before it was fully developed. On the other hand, would it have developed so quickly if it was not mandated...
