I thought NGK's were supposed to be good....

I have an 87 SPG, previously running with bosch platnium spark plugs. Upon reading numerous posts here, I've been led to believe that I should be running NGK's. So anyways I went and bought the NGK gold platniums (7EV). Anyways so I go and take the car for a spin in anticipation for better performance etc....Sure the car ran smoother into the upper RPM's (which is a big plus) but for some reason I'm not getting very much boost. Before the change I was getting boost to just a little under the red. Now it goes halfway into the yellow. Could anyone help me with this? I sure as heck hope that the car hasn't gone into basic boost again because it's kinda a pain in the arse to diagnose all that stuff.
Thanks for your help and listening to my rant....
