I dont know about longevity.
They are located at three points. On the drivers side under the alternator (had to see this one), on the passengers side near the back under the exhaust manifold (three big bolts in a row, vertically, very easy to spot), and a third one mounted in the middle on the front on the transmission.
The mount have a thick rubber layer in them that isolates a lot of vibrations from the rest of the car. The rubber can go bad over time. Also, if you have a later model 900, like late 80s, the transmission mount was changed to a "hyrdaulic" type that can rip over time and make the engine hop in the air on shifts and hard acceleration. Annoying.
I know the front mount is around $80, I dont know about the other two. Check townsendimports.com for pricing. The change the two near the firewall, you have to lift the engine. The one on the drivers side is difficult to access, the passengers side one is a peice of cake.
