Thanks Dave: I haven't checked out the Hall sensor, yet but I put in a new coil and that didn't help get me started. Weird thing is I replaced the alternator because the engine was misfiring and the battery was running down. After checking the fuel supply was fine, the injectors clean, and the junk yard alternator I put in had what looked to be new brushes. The old alternator had worn out brushes and like the coil was original to the car ('85 900s 8 valve non-turbo). The distributor cap, spark plugs and wires had recently been replaced (< 10,000 miles ago). Now the wierd thing is that I'm putting out a hot spark now from the coil, and about 10 Volts, but the car won't fire unless UNLESS I remove the fuel injectors... WEIRD ... then it fires from a jump start and runs for a few seconds until the fuel is gone. Before I replaced the alternator the car would start off a jump, but would not run, it would idle poorly and stall out constantly.
When I put the fuel injectors back in, it won't jump start...
The intake manifold seemed to be somewhat wet with oil and one more thing I didn't mention: The spark plugs seem to be getting fouled with oil ... not sure why because the engine is not really "burning oil" more than it ever has. Did a compression test with the throttle open and got the following results:
Cold and Dry: 1: 130, 2: 150, 3: 155, 4: 150
Cold with Oil: 1: 150, 2: 185, 3: 180, 4: 185
