This problem happened to me too. What you need is a bag of 40$ parts and some patience. The tricky part is geting to the bolts placed underneth the housing that holds the lock mechanism. Once disassembled you'll wonder how to get the tumbler out. There's a pin that holds the tumbler. For what reason I don't know. I drilled mine out.
Remember not to tighten anything untill your absolutly sure you have lined up the key to the starting mechanisim. I had to take a Muligan on that.
I did not have to tear my carpet out nor did I have to take my seats out.
I did try to hot wire my car. but to no avail. I got the car to turn over but not to start. The hot wire I think is the Orange and Red one combo that with the grey one.
