I just got back from a trip from cleveland to pittsburgh last night - probably roughly 300 miles in the whole day. Saw family, stopped by Ikea, etc...

Car is a 1990 SPG.

The gas mileage looked really bad. I was probably getting low 20's. Typically I think I get high 20's - low 30's on the highway.

My exhaust system (eeuroparts starla/walker) is still rattling, I think the tailpipe is touching something on the axle when I turn left. I doubt that has anything to do with it. I'll have to put on the OEM rubber hangers I have...

I bought the car in early summer with 99k, now I'm at 108k.

I did a tune up in about september (cap/rotor/plugs, but no wires), oil changes every 3k, new AIC late summer, new 02 sensor. Most of my vacuum lines were changed to silicone in the fall. Some were a b*tch to get to, they're still the old ones...

The car idles at its normal point (850-900) and stays there pretty solid, no jumping around. It just has a rough, gurgling sound.

The car seems to "click" a lot under the hood when I start it cold in the morning (and it's about 15-20 degrees in the morning now). It is slow to start up, probably old battery and cold weather. Still starts on the first turn of the key, but it takes a few seconds to come to life. Voltage when running is about 14V.

Runs strong, boosts great, cruise works, still fast as ever, but it gets bad mileage and sounds like crap at idle.

I'll be checking the fluids, gapping the plugs, and reseating the wires when I get back from some errands...

Any tips for things to look at? could I be missing a cylinder? Could the fuel pump I was worried about a few months ago be a few steps closer to death? AMM? vacuum leak?
