With wheel on ground, loosen and remove axle nut (mine was not on very hard, 32mm socket and breaker bar should do it.) Loosen lug bolts. Jack up car, support on jack stands, remove wheel. With a bottle jack or car's jack, lift suspension slightly until you can put two large nuts or metal wedges(approx half inch each) on the frame where the cv axle passes through the hole in frame, lower suspension until arm rests on nuts on the frame, taking the spring pressure off of the suspension. Remove caliper and zip tie to frame. You can remove disc, but you don't have to. Pull the two bolts from the top ball joint connecting with the control arm, do the same with the lower. Disconnect tie rod from the steering knuckle, careful not to damage rubber boot. Now pull knuckle towards you as ball joints slide out of arms and outer cv axle comes out of hub. Rotate knuckle to get clearances. May need a friend's help here propably, but it can be done alone. Leave axle in car, but zip tie it to the control arm so it does not fall out. With knuckle on the ground, you can apply sufficient force to the problem as opposed to when in the car. Use a large pickle fork (ball joint tool) to wedge joint out of knuckle. Sometimes you need to use two forks back to back, I have never had to do anything other than hammer the forks, be careful if you use heat on the knuckle as your hub bearing is in there. For a pictorial, check out http://www.twinsaabs.com, Jeff and Royce do an excellent step by step. You can do it. let us know how you make out. Good luck.
