Any idea what brand of pad?

A "harder" pad will last longer, but there is a trade off, more heat is put into the rotors.This can cause warping or sever glazing (a light glaze is OK) under extended breaking. A harder pad may also have to come up to operating temp for maximum braking action. If Your happy with em, I'd keep an eye on the wear (which it sounds like you are) And try to use the same brand when you do change them.
