Hi all: First thanks for the tips. I did the following:

1) I left the preheater (white) wires connected to the "to car" harness and tested, then also tested the "to car" with the "to sensor" connection undone - conclusion - no voltage coming out of the car to preheater. Fuse seems OK.

2) I tested the O2 sensor black wire coming from the O2 sensor - very hard to get ground - at one point, was getting readings in the .2 - .3 range, briefly a little higher. Then lost ground - later, was getting .05 - .09 range, then lost ground.

3) Tried to probe/test per KeithR's suggestion with the black wire connected to the car - peeled the suction cup back, but I couldn't get ground anywhere. No readings.

Anyone have any sure-fire, no-fail grounding points for pointed test probes on the paassenger side of the engine?

I have a GB digital multimeter - FYI, tested on a 9v battery - readings are accurate.

What's it mean if I am not getting voltage from/for the preheater circuit, and the fuse is good?

None of this was an issue before I put the new O2 sensor in - with the old one, very occassional CE light, but poor, hunting warm idle.

Again - the car runs well - idles 1500 or a little closer to 2000 when cold, once warm 900 - 1000.

Occassionally, CE light goes out for 2 - 3 min - seems to have something to do with the temp of the car - restarts after very warm then cooling for 20 - 30 min, other situations.

I'm seriously considering putting the old O2 sensor back in to see what happens.

Thanks!

SDBWORKS
